FAISALABAD - Proficiency in English language has become need of the hour for making advancement in any field of knowledge as it has become an international language and all information from four corners of the globe is coming through this medium. Government College University Faisalabad VC Prof Zakir Hussain remarked on the second round of Transforming English Language Skills (TELS) workshop on professional development for teaching through English arranged by the Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the British Council and Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Dean Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences Prof Shahbaz Arif, Dr Iftikhar Hussain Bukhari and Shahid Adeel were also present on the occasion.

The VC urged teachers and students to put special attention on the language by sharpening their skills in English reading, writing and speaking as well.

He said that command over effective communication was the guarantee and prerequisite for a bright future.

He stressed upon teaching community to avoid use of bombastic or difficult words in their lectures in order to make the communication process easier.

"Being an international language, English is must for the society for its survival in this modern age and without buffing up the skills, we will remain deprived of the fruits of modern knowledge," he said.

The VC appreciated the steps being taken on part of TELS and Higher Education Commission to improve the English skills among the newly appointed teaching staff.
