CM, Turkish team discuss health care

LAHORE - A delegation of Turkish Ministry of Health yesterday called on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and agreed upon speedy implementation of the agreement recently signed between Punjab and Turkish government.

Talking to the delegation, the Chief Minister said that steps will be taken expeditiously for the uplift of healthcare system in the light of the agreement. He further informed the Turkish that core groups have been constituted for implementation of the agreement and responsibilities have been assigned to them.

During his recent visit, Turkey President Tayyip Erdogan had signed several agreements with Punjab government for improvement of healthcare system in the province.

Shehbaz Sharif said that maximum improvement will be made in healthcare system. Under the agreement, health information management and public health agency will be established, he added.

“The Turkish model regarding health management system will be replicated in Punjab hospitals,” the CM said, adding that the Punjab government has decided to install CT scan machines in 36 districts.

He further said that CT scan facility will be available round the clock. A centralised system of procurement of medicines has also been introduced in the province for checking spurious medicines, Shehbaz told the delegation.

On the occasion, Head of the Turk delegation Dr Selami Kilic said that his country’s leadership and the people have great respect for Pakistan. “People of Pakistan and Turkey share a bond of brotherhood, and always ready to extend all out cooperation with each other.”

Senior expert Dr Hasan Cagil said that the agreement made for improvement of Punjab Healthcare system will be speedily implemented. Health Adviser Khawaja Salman Rafique, Parliamentary Secretary Khawaja Imran Nazir, Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, PKLI President Prof Dr Saeed Akhtar and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.

CM orders arrest of

Aasi attackers

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed police high-ups to bring to book the attackers of Nawa-i-Waqt Senior Editorial Editor Saeed Aasi.

The CM issued directive to arrest the nominated accused of the attack on senior journalist and his son. In this connection, the CM House official contacted Saeed Aasi and informed him about CM’s notice.

Also, CM Shehbaz took notice of violence and rape of a girl student of 8th class in Muzaffargarh and sought a report from DPO Muzaffargarh.

 He ordered immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident and directed to take indiscriminate action against the culprits.  The CM added that provision of justice be ensured to the affected family at every cost.

Meanwhile, the CM expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of mother and three children due to fire near Mor Khanda. He expressed sympathies and condolences with the bereaved family.

He also sought a report from the administration and ordered investigation into the incident.
