SC bench formed to hear MNA Ali Wazir bail plea changed

ISLAMABAD   -  The bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan constituted for hearing the bail application of MNA Ali Wazi has been changed.  A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, and comprising Justice Amin ud Din Khan and Justice Mandokhel Friday conducted hearing of the bail application of Ali Wazir.  During the hearing, Ali Wazir’s counsel Salah ud Din Gandapur contended that the case pertains to the liberty of a citizen but the Sindh prosecutor general sought adjournment. Therefore, the bench on the request of the prosecutor general Sindh deferred the hearing till November 29. However, according to the SC roster for the next week, the case has been fixed now before a three-member bench, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, and comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah. The Sindh High Court in June this year had dismissed the bail application of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader and MNA Ali Wazir in a case pertaining to the alleged use of provocative language against state institutions. The Peshawar police had arrested Mohammad Ali, better known as Ali Wazir, and others in December 2020 on the request of Sindh police for allegedly using defamatory and provocative language against state institutions and the army during a rally in Sohrab Goth.
