LAHORE - Top seeds on Tuesday advanced to the next round in the Ali Embroidery Junior National Tennis Championship 2021 being played here at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah.
PLTA Secretary Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), who is also tournament director, inaugurated the event during a colourful opening ceremony, which was also attended by tennis players, their families and tennis lovers. Malik thanked Mr. Tariq Zaman for sponsoring this national junior tennis tournament, which will help in further promoting the beautiful game of tennis across the country.
In the U-16 quarterfinals, talented Asad Zaman, who is being dubbed as future tennis star, played well against Kashan Tariq and outpaced him by 6-1, 7-5. Nadir Raza Mirza proved too hot for Muneeb Majeed and outclassed him with a score of 6-0, 6-0 while Shaeel Durab had to struggle hard to beat spirited Shehryar Anees 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.
In the boys U-14 pre-quarterfinals, Abubakar Khalil thrashed Inam Bari 4-0, 4-0, Samer Zaman trounced Nade-e-Ali 4-0, 4-0, Muzamil Bhand outlasted M Soohan Noor 4-1, 4-1, Nadir Raza Mirza toppled Abdul Basit 4-0, 4-1, Shehryar Anees defeated Omer Jawad 4-0, 5-3 and Ahtesham Humayun hammered Ismail Aftab 4-0, 4-0. In the boys U-12 pre-quarterfinals, Abubakr Talha (Wapda) outclassed Rohan Faisal 4-0, 4-0, Zohaib Afzal Malik (SA Group) beat Rashid Ali 4-0, 4-0 and Abdur Rehman (AAA Associates) beat Muhammad Ahmad 4-1, 4-1.
