Quetta- At least one person was killed and 13 others were injured when an explosion occurred in Balochistan’s Sibi town today.

Muhammad Afzal, a police official, told Dawn that unknown militants had planted a bomb in a motorcycle parked on the Chakar road area of the city.

"The bomb went off with a loud explosion," he said. Rescue workers and police arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital Sibi where an emergency was also imposed. The doctors described the condition of two patients serious. "All the victims are civilians," Afzal said.

Afzal said that security forces were on a routine patrol when the blast took place. The blast was heard far and wide causing panic among the people. The intensity of the blast also smashed the glasses of nearby houses and shops. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
