LAHORE – Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary M Asif Bajwa has said that Indian Hockey India has invited Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president to finalise terms for a regular bilateral series between the two countries,
Talking to the reporters here at the National Hockey Stadium on Monday, Asif Bajwa said: “PHF president Qasim Zia is going to India on September 15 on the invitation of Indian Hockey Federation where he will discuss about the Pak-India bilateral hockey series. Indian team will first visit Pakistan and then Pakistan team will go to India to play the series.”
He said that due to busy schedule of both the teams, the bilateral series would be held in March and April next year. “During London Olympics 2012, the PHF president met with Indian counterparts and had important discussions regarding hockey boost of both the countries and then Indian hockey federation officials extended invitation to the PHF president which he accepted and next month he is going to India,” he said. Bajwa hoped that the revival of bilateral hockey series would strengthen the relations of both the countries and provide opportunities to the people of both the nations who are crazy about the game.
