10 gunned down in Karachi

KARACHI - Five political workers among 10 people were shot dead in separate incidents of target killings here on Tuesday.
A suspected criminal Ramiz was shot dead and two others, Mohsin and Shoaib were wounded when two armed culprits riding a motorcycle opened fire on them when they were sitting at Nadeem Sarwar Park in Dastagir locality.
Police said the victim was a criminal and had also been nominated in the criminal case. The wounded Shoaib is the worker of Sunni Tehreek. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained that either the victim was the culprits’ target or the injured ST worker.
An owner of the bus stand was shot dead near Manzil Pump. Police officials said victim Raja Ameer, 50, was sitting at his bus stand when some unidentified armed riders shot him dead. Initial investigation suggested that the victim killed over personal enmity while further investigation was underway.
Rubina, 35, wife of Babar, was found dead from inside her house in Orangi Town. Police said she was hanged to death inside her house. Police said her husband, who was a drug peddler, had also been gunned down recently by unidentified persons. Police suspected involvement of the victim’s relative, Ghulam Muhammad in her murder who had escaped soon after the incident. The raids for his arrest were continued.
Separately, a MQM worker Amir Abbasi, 28, was shot dead in Korangi locality. Police officials said he was standing near his home when two armed men riding a motorcycle came close to him and escaped after shooting him multiple times. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy. SHO Nawaz Gondal said the victim was a local leader of the MQM.
Similarly, another MQM worker Qaiser Mukhtar was shot dead in Shah Faisal Colony by two armed men riding a motorcycle. Police said he was shot multiple times and was being transported to the JPMC when he succumbed to injuries. They said the victim was associated with the MQM unit 102.
Moreover, a PPP worker Alam Khan Swati, 33, was shot dead in an act of target killing in Bilal Colony area of Quaidabad, Landhi. Police officials said the victim’s brother Barin Khan was also wounded in the incident. They were taken to JPMC where Swati succumbed to injuries. Police officials said he was the local leader of PPP PS-128. The victims were sitting at their general store when two armed men riding a motorcycle came and targeted them. A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.
Two MQM workers among four people were killed while at least two others wounded in an armed attack by at least half dozen motorcyclists.   
At least 12 armed men on six motorbikes came near from Kharadar Jamaat Khana and resorted to indiscriminate firing and fled. As a result six people sustained bullet wounds while two young men namely Farhan Ameen and Abbas Fazal died on the spot. Four others, including Arif, Saleem, Yasir and Arsalan were transported to Civil Hospital for treatment where Saleem and Arsalan also succumbed to their injuries. Police said the victims Farhan Ameen and Abbas Fazal were affiliated with MQM. It suspected that Lyari gangster groups were involved behind the incident. Following the incident, heavy contingent of law enforcers deployed in the area to control any further untoward situation.      
Separately, Saudabad police have found a bullet-riddled body of man namely Amir, resident of Amar Yar Society, Malir. Police said some unidentified culprits shot him multiple times after his kidnapping. Police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the incident. Sadaf Akhtar Amanat, 12, was killed during armed clashes between the two rival groups in Gauharabad. The body was handed over to family after autopsy at hospital.
