COAS says willing to help Afghanistan achieve an inclusive settlement

General Qamar Javed Bajwa strongly condemns terrorist attack at Kabul airport

ISLAMABAD   -  UK’s Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service Richard Moore called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi on Friday. 

“During the meeting, matters of mutual and professional interests, intelligence / defence collaboration between both the countries and overall regional security, with special emphasis on post-US withdrawal in Afghanistan came under discussion,” according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate. 

“Pakistan is helping achieve peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan. Pakistan is willing to do whatever is possible to help Afghanistan achieve an inclusive settlement which is vital for regional peace and prosperity,” the ISPR quoted the COAS as saying on this occasion. 

The visiting dignitary expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s untiring efforts towards regional peace and stability, said the ISPR further. Meanwhile, US Charge d’ Affaires to Pakistan Ms Angela Ageler, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa  at GHQ on Friday. 

During the meeting matters of mutual interest, regional security and recent situation in Afghanistan were discussed in detail. COAS said that Pakistan has no favourites in Afghanistan and our sole aim is helping achieve peaceful, sovereign stable and prosperous Afghanistan.

COAS strongly condemned the terrorist attacks at Kabul airport and expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He also reiterated the combined resolve to fight terrorism and extremism to the core. 

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and stability and thanked the COAS for the special assistance in the evacuation operations from Kabul.
