Govt will bring Nawaz Sharif back, accused will not return by himself: Fawad Chaudhry

Federal Minster for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said that the Government of Pakistan (GOP) will bring former prime minister Nawaz Sharif back from the UK as the "accused will not return by himself".

“Talks were being held with the UK authorities for the extradition of the accused,” the minister said.

While talking to a press conference in Islamabad today, Fawad Chaudhry said that previously PDM Chief Fazlur Rehman had also announced to hold mass rallies against government but all ended in vain.

While referring to Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Fawad asked, “Maulana Fazlur Rehman had also announced a march, but what happened?”

“Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari have harmed the country and because of that the incumbent government had to approach the IMF. The Sicilian Mafia was exposed in the Rana Shamim case,” he further added.

Meanwhile, Fawad Chaudhry said that the federal cabinet had approved forming a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the murder of Nazim Jokhio.

He added that extensive efforts were made to compromise Jokhio’s murder probe. Hence, the federal cabinet has decided to formulate a JIT comprising the officials from police, intelligence agencies, civil and armed forces.

It is pertinent to mention here that Jokhio was allegedly tortured to death by PPP MPA Jam Awais in Malir s Memon Goth for preventing the MPA s foreign guests from hunting the protected Houbara Bustard by posting their videos on social media.

Moreover, Fawad also apprised the media regarding the cabinet meeting, which approved the country’s first National Security Policy a day ago.

“The national security policy is linked to the life of the common man and it will ensure the safety of the common man. The national security policy also concerns the economic situation,” he added.

During the past week, Federal Minister for Information had said that the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan expressed anger over meritless distribution of tickets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government polls.

Fawad Chaudhry said that a constitutional committee of PTI had been formed which will work and submit report to the Prime Minister. He said a new organization will be formed through this committee.

Fawad Chaudhry further said that PTI does not believe in family politics. “There will be no difference between PTI and other parties, if the practices of distributing tickets to family members were not stopped,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

After the election defeat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister of information and broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary said that the Prime Minister had decided to dissolve the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) organizations across the country and formulate a 21-membered supreme committee.

Information Minister Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said that Imran Khan, as chairman PTI dissolved all party organizations from the center to tehsil level. He said all parliamentary boards have also been dissolved and officials, including the chief organizer, have been removed from their posts. He informed that the Prime minister made it clear that for the next local government elections, the party leaders will not be allowed to field their relatives as he will himself monitor the nomination of candidates for every constituency. He added that no party other than PTI can give 100-1200 party-tickets in country.

Moreover, the decision was taken during the PTI leadership meeting chaired by Imran Khan. It was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Usman Bazdar, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Minister for Local Government Mahmood Rasheed, Senator Saifullah Niazi, Amir Kayani, Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhry, Hamad Azhar, Shafqat Mehmood, Chief Minister KP Mehmood Khan, Asad Qaiser, Pervez Khattak, Murad Saeed and other senior leaders of the party.

The meeting reviewed the political and economic situation of the country and discussed preparations for the local government elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was also briefed on the administrative matters of the party in Punjab, the election results in KP and the party strategy for the next election. Imran Khan directed Chief Minister KP Mehmood Khan to organise party workers in the province as he claimed, PTI is still the most popular party in the country.

According to sources, during the party meeting, the PM was briefed on various government development projects. Imran Khan instructed the party not to repeat the previous mistakes in the local body elections in the 2nd phase in KP and said that he would decide candidates for elections.

The party has formed 21-member “supreme” committee to monitor preparations for the next election and award tickets. The committee will be headed by Imran Khan. Ali Amin Gandapur, Asad Umar from Sindh, Imran Ismail, Ali Zaidi, Qasim Suri, Governor Agha Zahoor and Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry, Ejaz Chaudhry and Shirin Mazari are members of the committee.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had dissolved all the bodies and wings of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following the party s poor performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government polls. He had formed a 21-member supreme committee to devise strategy for the next local elections.
