NAB Multan arrests three in housing fraud

MULTAN - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan have arrested three accused on charge of causing Rs 58 million loss to people who had made investments in Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Society.

Accused Mujahid Hussain s/o Sardar Muhammad, Fida Hussain and Muhammad Iqbal s/o Ahmed Nawaz were arrested on allegations of causing loss to WAPDA Employees Cooperative Housing Society (WECHS) Multan to the tune of Rs 58 million by not transferring the land measuring 48 Kanal to WECHS Multan against which they had received above said consideration, NAB Multan spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday.

Moreover, they resold the said land to other private persons rather than transferring the same to the said society. All three accused were produced before the Accountability Court Multan on Wednesday. The court granted seven-day physical remand of the accused.

3 restaurants sealed
for violating SOPs

District administration on Wednesday launched crackdown and sealed three restaurants over corona SOPs violations. Assistant Commissioner City Abida Fareed raided at Gulgasht area where indoor dining services were being provided despite ban by the government. The restaurants were included Gulgasht Biryani, New Quetta Hotel and Karachi Biryani.

22 gamblers held, stake money recovered

Police claimed to have arrested 22 gamblers and also recovered stake money Rs3,66,780 and other gambling stuff from their possession. SHO Qutubpur police station Sub-inspector Ali Raza along with his team raided and arrested the gamblers, under the directions of CPO Mian Mahboob Rasheed. Case was registered against the accused and police started legal action. The district police have carried out operation against the gamblers on large scale across the district to control it.

104 power pilferers nabbed in a day in S. Punjab

Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) netted 104 power pilferers during separate operations launched throughout the South Punjab during last 24 hours, MEPCO official said on Wednesday. MEPCO teams accompanying task forces raided different places in Multan, Vehari, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, and Dera Ghazi Khan and detected theft of over 115,000 electricity units. A sum of over Rs 1.83 million fine was imposed. The electricity thieves were involved in tampering with body of meters, direct supply, installing loop in meters, slowing down meters, meter dead stop and meter screen wash.

Addl IG inaugurates horse riding school

South Punjab Additional Inspector General of Police Zafar Iqbal on Wednesday inaugurated ‘Horse riding school’ for police force training at DG Khan.

Speaking on this occasion, the Additional IGP said that horse riding training would help further improving professional skills of the police force. He said the training was imparted to police force as per regional reliance for the safety of properties and lives of masses, adding, the horse riding was a fun which would also be helpful for police against law violators. He said the horse riding training would be imparted to untrained police officials of DG Khan. He hailed the professional skills of DG Khan RPO Faisal Rana, saying, the horse riding training under the supervision of the RPO would be proved fruitful. He also laid wreath on Yadgar-e-shuhada and also met with families of martyrs. RPO Faisal Rana, DPO Umar Saeed Malik and Rizwan Khan were also present.
