Alleged extortionist, two car thieves arrested

ISLAMABAD - A team of CIA police arrested an alleged extortionist who used to send threatening letter to an Islamabad-based family living in Rawal Town.
The accused namely Akbar Hussain Shah has been working as a security guard in Sunshine Security Company operating in Islamabad.
Changez Khan, resident of Rawal Town, reported to Shahzad Town police that on July 13, 2014 he received a threatening letter followed by a telephone call by an anonymous man who threatened to kidnap his baby boy if one million rupees were not paid to him. Following the complaint, police registered a case and started investigation. After The Nation reported the case on July 15, the SSP Islamabad directed SP (investigation) Jamil Hashmi to investigate the matter. The SP constituted a team under his supervision, which traced out the accused and finally arrested him on Sunday.
Meanwhile, police busted a gang of car thieves and arrested two car thieves. Police also recovered a stolen car, besides getting clue about other stolen vehicles, a spokesman said.
