Saqlain to coach Aussies

MUMBAI - While all Test playing nations have had hired the services of Australians for their players coaching (Bangloadesh: Jamie Siddons, Sri Lanka: Tom Moody, Trevor Bayliss, Stuart Law, India: Greg Chappell and Pakistan: Geoff Lawson), Cricket Australia (CA) last week turned to Pakistans Saqlain Mushtaq for their Centre Of Excellence (COE) Cricket Academy. In fact, the board was keen to hire the services of highest wicket-taking Sri Lankan bowler Muthiah Muralitharan for the job. The CA is interested in providing our spin bowlers with a range of coaching expertise and as a result we have used several consultants over the last three years across several programmes. These consultants have included Shane Warne, Stuart MacGill, Terry Jenner, Saqlain Mushtaq to name a few. We tried to access Murali for 2011 but he was unavailable on the dates required, Belinda Clark, herself the international cricketer, now working as a manager for the COE said over telephone from Brisbane. She captained the Australian womens cricket team for 12 years (1993 2005) and opened the batting throughout an Australian representative career that spanned 14 years.
