ISLAMABAD - Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Police, Aftab Ahmed Cheema expressing displeasure over the performance of SDPOs and SHOs has urged them all to improve their performance.
He stated this while speaking during a meeting here on Friday to review the performance of officers. The meeting was attended by AIG Sultan Azam Temuri, AIG Special Branch Waqar Chohan, all SP Zones, SP Security and all SDPOs and SHOs.
The IGP expressed disappointment at the performance of SHOs and warned of strict action if they failed to improve their performance. He further said a strategy has been prepared to judge the performance of SHOs.
The performance will be judged by the number of challans submitted in the courts and arrests of accused, he added.
He said those SDPOs whose performance is poor; their reports will be forwarded to Interior Ministry, which could initiate departmental action against them.
The IGP directed officers to take effective measures to check incidents of murders, kidnapping, armed robberies, car lifting and street crimes.
He said those performing well will be rewarded and their work will be recognized.
He directed the Superintendents of Police to initiate accountability in the department and said those officers who are performing their duties with devotion should be rewarded and those who are negligent should be proceeded against.
The IGP also directed to enhance security around mosques, places of worship and markets during the holy month of Ramazan.
He also ordered that police should be more vigilant and increase patrolling during the holy month.
The IGP said citizens should be provided relief at their doorsteps and no innocent person should be arrested. He said he would continue to review performance of police officers on regular basis.
