FAISALABAD - A girl and her alleged paramour were shot dead in a katchi abadi near a railway crossing in the limits of Factory Area police station of Faisalabad on Sunday. Later bodies of 28-year-old Ishfaq, girl’s alleged paramour, and 18-year-old Mehwish were shifted to the mortuary of Allied Hospital for the post-mortem. Police said Mehwish’s body was found from the rooftop of her house while that of Ishfaq, who had allegedly travelled from Chichawatni to see the girl, from the courtyard of the house. Police have started investigation to ascertain motive of the killings.
It said that family of the deceased Ishfaq back in Chichawatni had been informed of his death. Meanwhile, two people were killed following a scuffle during a football match in Faisalabad’s Bhagowali, police said on Sunday.
Police said a group of men attacked their opponents outside their homes after their children had a fight during a football match. Another man, who’s believed to be in a critical condition, is being treated at the hospital. Police have registered a case and are carrying out raids to arrest the attackers.
Woman ends life
A young woman, who swallowed poisonous pills after quarreling with her in-laws a couple of days ago, died at the Allied Hospital here on Saturday late night. Police said on Sunday that Bushra Bibi, wife of Ahmad Hayat, resident of Nankana became dejected and swallowed poisonous pills after quarreling with her in-laws. She was shifted to a local hospital from where she was referred to Allied Hospital Faisalabad in critical condition where she was pronounced dead. The police handed over the body to her relatives after completing necessary formalities.
509,090 people vaccinated against corona
As many as 509,090 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the district. District Health Officer Dr Ataul Mun’im said on Sunday that 396,284 citizens were given first dose while 73,493 were injected second dose of vaccine. He further said that 25,351 health workers were also injected first dose while 13,962 received second dose of vaccine. He said that sufficient stock of anti-coronavirus vaccine was available in the district. As of now 18,490 first doses and 1,232 second doses were in stock in Faisalabad. He said that 34 vaccination centers were operational in Faisalabad where registered people were also getting anti-coronavirus vaccine doses.
The district administration set up vaccination centres in those hospitals and localities included: Allied Hospital, District Head Quarters Hospital, Government General Hospital G.M Abad, Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, Government General Hospital Samanabad, Children Hospital, Sports Complex Samanabad, Tehsil Head Quarters Hospital Jaranwala, Samundri, Tandlianwala, Chak Jhumra, Sports Complex Chak Jhumrah, Sports Complex Jaranwala, Government General Hospital Chak 224-RB, New Building RHC Khurrianwala, New Building THQ Sammundri, New Building THQ Tandlianwala, Social Security Hospital Madina Town, Wapda Hospital, Rural Health Centers Mureed Wala, Chak 174-JB, Chak 134-JB, Chak 229-Rb, Chak 65-GB, RHC Lundianwala Jaranwala, RHC Khurrianwala Jaranwala, Pindi Sheikh Musa, Kanjwani, Mamukanjan, RHC Chak 400-GB, RHC Chak 153-RB, RHC Chak 374-GB and Chak 469-GB.
He further said that timing of these vaccination centres was 8am to 8pm except Sports Complex
Samanabad center which would remain open round the clock.
8 more test positive for COVID-19 in Faisalabad
Eight people were tested positive for COVID-19 in Faisalabad during the last 24 hours.
According to health department spokesperson, 943 coronavirus tests were conducted
in public and private sector labs during the same period. He said that total active cases
in Faisalabad were 213 while 20,327 patients recovered from the disease.
He said that 339 beds were allocated at the Allied Hospital, 133 at the DHQ Hospital and
150 at Government General Hospital Ghulam Muhammad Abad for COVID-19 patients.
At present, 44 patients were under treatment at the Allied Hospital, 13 at DHQ Hospital
and 4 were admitted to General Hospital. He further said that 105 confirmed patients were isolated at their homes in the district.
