PM says investigation into Muharram related violence is in progress

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that investigation into the incidents occurred in Rawalpindi and Dera Ismail Khan during Muharramul Haram is in progress and the culprits would be given exemplary punishment.
Addressing cabinet meeting in Islamabad Wednesday‚ he pledged the resolve of the nation to defeat the elements who are playing with the lives of the innocent citizens.
The prime minister appreciated all those who played an important role in maintaining peace during Muharramul Haram.
He also paid tributes to all including armed forces‚ security agencies‚ police‚ rangers‚ ulema‚ media and the civil society for maintaining unity during Muharram.
Briefing cabinet on D-8 summit in Islamabad‚ the prime minister said D-8 is an important forum and members were of the view that the development and progress of the concerned countries are linked up with the stability and peace in Afghanistan. The member states expressed their confidence in the democratic flourishment in Pakistan and appreciated the President Asif Ali Zardari's initiative for trade‚ banking‚ barter trade‚ preferential trade and currency swap among D-8 members.
He said D-8 also appreciated the reformation steps being taken by the democratic government in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Pervez Ashraf congratulated all the stakeholders including the Foreign Office for the conducive holding of D-8 summit in Islamabad.
