LAHORE - Former Test cricketer Shafqat Rana, an icon of a cricket playing family, was honoured by the Punjab government and appointed as a member of the syndicate of the prestigious Government College University.

Shafqat’s appointment is for a period of three years and for him, the honour is great because he is the first sportsman to have achieved this. “Today is memorable day of my life and I feel elevated,” he said here on Monday. He said he would do his best to further enhancing the name of this esteemed institution by putting up suggestions based on his experience and standing as a sportsman.

The syndicate of the Government College University is required to pursue academic excellence and supervise the affairs of the university.
