Junagadh issue still alive, claims Nawab Khanji

ISLAMABAD - Nawab of Junagadh State Muhammad Jahangir Khanji met Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai here on Sunday. He said the issue of Junagadh was legally alive until such instrument of accession was intact.

According to a press release issued here, Nawab Muhammad Jahangir Khanji, while briefing on the issue of Junagadh State told Governor Achakzai that the occupation of Junagadh State by India was completely against Article 26 of Vienna Convention on Law of Treatise.

Junagadh State possesses the law of accession with Pakistan and met all the criteria of accession under the Vienna Convention Law of Treatise. To prove that Junagadh State is a part of Pakistan, this accession document is important, strong and lawful evidence.

The Instrument of Accession of Junagadh is an international agreement, concluded between states, in written form, governed by international law, Nawab Khanji said.

He further stated the issue of Junagadh was legally alive until such instrument of accession was intact.

Nawab Khanji was accompanied by founder of Muslim Institute Sahibzada Sultan Muhammad Ali.

On this, Muhammad Ali commented that Junagadh and Kashmir issue were separate issues and there was a need to deal with both issues separately and both issues should be raised at the United Nations.

The federal and provincial governments of Pakistan should collectively work on effective measures to resolve these issues, he said.

Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai assured Nawab Jahangir Khanji that all issues of Pakistan were to be taken seriously and praised His Highness’ sacrifices and efforts.

Nawab of Junagadh also presented a copy of the document on law of accession to Governor Balochistan on this occasion.
