Establishing South Punjab as separate province part of PTI's manifesto: Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the creation of South Punjab as the separate province is a necessity which can no longer be ignored.

Talking to media in Multan on Sunday, he said the establishing a separate province in South Punjab is part of PTI's manifesto.

The minister said a committee has been set up in this regard to develop a political consensus as no single party is in a position to bring a constitutional amendment to pave the way for the creation of South Punjab province.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi told, the committee will hold consultations and will come up with solid recommendations.

The recommendations of the committee will be put before the opposition parties and we request them to rise above politics and make the decision based on objective reality and needs of the people.

Remarking on the All Parties Conference the minister said, All Parties Conference of the opposition parties should be meaningful and not focused on saving someone.

The foreign minister totally rejected the impression that accountability institutions are being dictated by the government.

“Accountability institutions are not dictated by the government and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari is aware that we are not pressuring anyone,” he told.

“We want the process of accountability to continue,” Qureshi further added.

On one query the minister said he does not see any possibility of Governor's Rule in Sindh and it is baseless news.
