Court records statements of 3 more witnesses in Noor Mukaddam murder case

ISLAMABAD - Additional and District Sessions Judge (West) Muhammad Atta Rabbani on Wednesday recorded the statements of three more witnesses in Noor Mukaddam murder case.
The witnesses were identified as Abid Latif, ASI Basharat and Aqsa Rani.
The four accused including Zahir Zakir Jaffar could not be produced before court by the police due to closure of roads by district government ahead of anti-government protest by banned outfit Tehreek-e-Labbaik. The court marked the attendance of the accused via Skype from Adiala Jail.
The defense lawyers also cross-examined the prosecution witnesses. The court also distributed the copies of statements and other case related documents among the defense lawyers.
When Judge Muhammad Atta Rabbani took up the case, defence lawyer Akram Qureshi argued that the court should provide the case related documents to the accused in the light of a verdict of apex court and hearing of case should also be postponed.
However, the judge remarked the copies of documents would be provided to the defense lawyers right now and the hearing would also be held.  The accused including Asmat Adam Jee and CEO Therapy Works, who are on bail, appeared before the court.
Zakir Jaffar, father of prime accused, informed court that he had replaced his lawyer Rizwan Abbasi with Bisharat Ullah Advocate.
In his statement, prosecution witness Abid Latif told court that he reached police station in 8 minutes from crime scene in a private car.
Another prosecution witness, ASI Basharat, recorded his statement that he visited crime scene where other senior officers were already present. He said finger prints of Zahir Zakir Jaffar were taken and two separate parcels were also prepared. The time of occurrence of crime was not confirmed, however, he was on duty at Rescue 15 and reached at the crime scene at 9:30pm.
Aqsa Rani, another witness, told court that she was posted in police station women on July 20 from where she rushed to crime scene and saw the body of Noor Mukaddam.
The investigation office had given me an application for shifting the body to mortuary and carrying out post-mortem. “Police also handed me over grey coloured T-shirt and other blood soaked clothes of Noor,” she said adding that she found eight wounds on body of the deceased. “Noor had four wound marks on chest while three under the right ear and one wound on her forehead,” she said.
The court postponed the hearing of case till 3 November summoning map-architect Amir Shehzad, ASI Muhammad Riaz, and Head Constable Farasat Faheemband Mudassir for recording their statements in Noor Mukaddam murder case.
