ISLAMABAD -The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday expressed its annoyance over Islamabad police for its failure in recovery of a 16-year-old girl.
A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq conducted hearing of the case filed by the victim family seeking early recovery of the girl Tahira who went missing seven-days back. Expressing displeasure over SSP Islamabad, the IHC bench directed him to recover the missing girl within seven days.
The court also censured SSP Attaur Rehman over the comments submitted by him and remarked that whether he did not know how to submit reply in the court.
Justice Aamer asked from the SSP that is the police officer appearing before the high court first time? At this, DIG Operations Afzal Ahmed Kausar requested the court to grant one-month time for recovery of the girl.
He added that the police would make all out efforts in this regard. Taunting the response, Justice Aamer said that should not the court give one-year time or till 2031 when he would be retiring.
The bench observed that every officer in Islamabad had come to spend vacations here from KP and Punjab. It further said that the officers should at least give responsible statement before the courts and should the court send them to Adiala jail in contempt of court.
The court stated that the police officers should leave their jobs if they could not render their responsibility.
Justice Farooq said that the court would initiate contempt of court case if no reply was received from police till next date and deferred the proceedings for one week.
