NAB urges IHC for Nawaz’s permanent arrest warrants

ISLAMABAD - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Wednesday urged the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to issue permanent arrest warrants of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in corruption cases. The anti-graft watchdog made the request before a division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani which heard the appeals filed by NAB and convicted persons including Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar in corruption references pertaining to Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Flagship Investment and Avenfield property. However, the IHC bench deferred the hearing on the appeals of Sharif family in the graft references on the request of Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar as due to the engagements of their lawyer Amjad Pervez at Lahore High Court (LHC).
