'Supply to Ramazan Bazaars intact despite floods'

LAHORE The Punjab Agriculture Department on Saturday claimed that the supply chain of food items for fair price shops at Ramazan Bazaars throughout Punjab is intact despite the flood situation. According to a press release, a spokesman of Agriculture department said that the supply chain is also being monitored regularly by Provincial Ministers, public representatives and government functionaries to extend benefits of this initiative to the public, especially poor masses. Marketing Wing of Punjab Agriculture department has set up 300 Fair Price Shops in the Ramazan Bazaars where five food items are being sold at whole sale rates, he said adding, an amount of Rs 60 million have been provided by Punjab government for this facility. Sasta Ramazan Bazaars have been established by district governments throughout the province and one fair price shop in each Ramzan Bazaar has been set up by Marketing Wing of Agriculture department Punjab where potatoes, onion, pulses, dates and gram powder (baison) are being provided at whole sale price, he added.
