Holding CM Punjab Women Hockey to help revive game: Taimoor  

LAHORE - Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti on Saturday said Sports Board Punjab is going to organise 1st Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship from Sept 7-12, which is definitely a historic measure for the promotion of hockey in the province. Taimoor said all provinces and top departments will participate in this event scheduled to be staged at the National Hockey Stadium. 

“This championship will play a key role in popularizing the 5-a-Side style of hockey among the young generation across the country besides promoting national unity and cohesion.”

 

He said Sports Board Punjab under the leadership of Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh has been doing extraordinary efforts for the growth of hockey across the province. “We are quite confident to find several talented female hockey players through this championship”.

Aulakh said the SBP is making excellent arrangements for the smooth holding this event. “The trials for the selection of Punjab’s two teams are being conducted on merit. Senior hockey experts are conducting the trials of female hockey players of all nine divisions of province.”
