Maiden snow jeep rally held at Lowari Top

DIR UPPER - The first ever one-day snow jeep rally was held here on Sunday at Lowari Top, the boarder point between Dir Upper and Chitral districts. The jeep rally was arranged by the mutual cooperation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, Pak Army and local administrations.
Major General Nadir Khan, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Malakand Division was Chief Guest at the event others included DIG Malakand Division Azad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Dir Zakaullah Khatak, MNA Sahibzada Tariqullah, District Nazim Sahibzada Fasihullah, civil and military officers as well as a large number of locals especially youth and tourists attended the festival.
The jeep rally had covered a distance of 20.9 km around the Lowari Tunnel.
In the rally 30 different vehicles across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated.
Yasir Khan of Frontier 4/4 Club won the rally, Shah Nawaz Khan of the Frontier Club grabbed second position while a local Rahatullah Khan came on 3rd position.
Speaking on the occasion GOC Nadir Khan said such programs would promote peace and tourism in the region.
He said that the Lowari Top area is a picturesque spot which needed proper attention of the government.
“The snow jeep rally is aimed to promote this snow covered area as well to provide an opportunity of entertainment to the people” he said.
He also said that this snow festival will be held every year in the area.
Nadir also said that the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb in tribal region is about to be concluded with success in which the personnel of security forces had rendered huge sacrifices.
He asked the people to continue cooperation with the security forces. At the end the GOC also distributed prizes among the winners.
