Korean tennis team arrives to play Davis Cup tie

ISLAMABAD - The Korean Davis Cup contingent arrived in Islamabad late Saturday night to play Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Zone Group-I tie against Pakistan.

The contingent was received by Pakistan Tennis Federation officials. Pakistan will play the tie from February 2-3, under the new two-day format set by International Tennis Federation. The Korean team is spearheaded by Soonwoo Kwon currently ranked 174th in the ITF men’s singles category.

The Korea Davis Cup contingent comprises: Seohee Kim, Korea Tennis Association official, Jae Sik Kim, team captain, Young Hong Kim, coach, Chulmin Wang, trainer, Soonwoo Kwon, player, Young Kyu Lim, player, Seong Chan Hong, player, Young Seok Kim, player, Min Jong Park, player.

Pakistan Davis team is spearheaded by Aisamul Haq, who recently returned from Australia, where he played in the doubles event of Australian Open. Pakistan Davis Cup team comprises: Mushaf Zia, manager, Hameed-ul-Haq, coach, Aisam-ul-Haq, player, Aqeel Khan, player, Abid Ali Akbar, player and Muzammil Murtaza player. Opening ceremony will be held on Friday, February 2 at 10:00am. The first singles match will be played at 10:30am followed by second singles while doubles match will be played on February 3 at 9:30am followed by first and second reverse single matches at Pakistan Sports Complex grass courts.
