I Livestock teams ask people to contact office freely for animals’ treatment

SUKKUR   -  A cattle vaccination drive Thursday started in Ghotki district after receiving a number of complaints.

The livestock officials set up camps at weekly cattle markets and distributed medicines in villages among the farmers to protect their animals from the diseases. The officials said the livestock teams also held meetings with farmers in various areas to get firsthand information about the diseases. 

The livestock department also held a special spray in the villages and weekly cattle markets. They said the department carried out spray of the viruses which were usually transferred from cattle to human beings.

The officials claimed that the weekly camps produced good results as a number of farmers approached the district livestock department for consultation about cattle diseases and also got medicines. The livestock teams asked the people if they had any issue about the treatment of their animals, they should contact the office freely.

Free screening camp for Hepatitis held

The Member National Assembly (MNA), Dr Mahreen Bhutto on Thursday inaugurated a free screening camp for Hepatitis B, C in a health centre Setharja of the Khairpur district.

She said that we are determined to eradicate hepatitis from the Province and Sindh Hepatitis Control Programme is providing free of cost treatment facilities and medicines to the hepatitis patients throughout the province. MNA said that people are coming for a free screening in these camps and are being informed about the importance of screening and this disease. Dr Mahreen said over 3,000 people of the remote areas will benefit from free facility, adding that screening process will help in early detection and quick treatment.

She said the government is taking effective measures to save the lives of mother and child. These free screening camps will provide free of cost screen facility regarding hepatitis B and C to the localities, she added.

Kashmir Day to be marked in befitting manner in upper Sindh

The people of Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki districts will mark the ‘Youm-i- Yekjehti-i-Kashmir’ on February 5, to express solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren who are struggling for their right to self-determination.

A number of organisations have chalked out programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.

The Directorate of Social Welfare and Women Development will organise a seminar on ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ at the Mehran Cultural Complex.

The Jamat-i-Islami Sukkur chapter will organise a big rally on Kashmir Day.

Different religious and social organisations will also hold a seminar in Khairpur and Ghotki districts to express solidarity with the Kashmiris.

Students and teachers of the schools and colleges across the Sukkur division will take active part in the observance of the Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Commissioner for improving liaison with people

Commissioner Shafique Mahesar on Thursday directed the district administration officers including deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners to improve liaison with the people and provide better services to them in order to get public support and cooperation.

The Commissioner emphasised that officers of the district administrations would have to rebuild public confidence on them by showing their commitment to serve the people in the best possible way. He directed them to go to their field/areas and make best efforts to serve the people and win their confidence and support.
