ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Wednesday that party’s Vice-President Maryam Nawaz had been tested positive for coronavirus.
In a tweet, she said that Maryam had gone into self-quarantine after testing positive. She also appealed to people to pray for the PML-N leader and other people infected with the virus. Later, the PML-N vice-president, responding to a tweet of a well wisher, said she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers and good wishes. “Many thanks Kami and everyone sending prayers my way. Overwhelmed by outpouring of prayers & good wishes. Means a world. I have fever, cough and flu symptoms but am being treated at home,” she said in the tweet. The news comes as the country’s daily Covid-19 case count crossed 4,000 for the first time in two months Wednesday morning as the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported 4,119 fresh infections. PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif prayed for early recovery of Maryam Nawaz. In a tweet, he said that he was sad to know about Maryam’s health. Notable Pakistani politicians, including Prime Minister Imran Khan, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, have all tested positive and recovered from the virus.
