Sindh wants positive change, says FM Qureshi

I Says people of Sindh are helpless; province’s law and order situation is worst

KARACHI - Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that conquering Sindh was not their goal. The province’s people wanted change as they gave immense opportunities to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) during last 13 years.
Talking to media after offering condolences on death of late Sardar Mumtaz Bhutto to his son Amir Buksh Bhutto, Qureshi said that deceased was one of the founding members of PPP. “May Allah, the Almighty elevate the ranks of Mumtaz Bhutto,” he prayed. Speaking on political affairs, the Foreign Minister said that the people of Sindh have had enough during the last 13 years and now they wanted positive change.
“Those who always talk about the 18th constitutional amendment should also speak about their performance in Sindh. These people come to the National Assembly and talk about the democratic traditions. They should also talk about democratic traditions in Sindh first,” he added. Qureshi said that today the people of Sindh were helpless, adding that the law and order situation was worst.
“Situation of Tharparkar is in front of everyone. Who is responsible of cold blooded murder of a man belonging to a Hindu Bheel community, he asked. He said that the people of Sindh had been looking for alternatives for 13 years and their decision would be changed in 2023 general elections. “The decision of Sindh will be different in the next election. Political figures in Sindh are displeased with the PPP. If all these forces meet in Larkana, there is nothing wrong with that,” said Qureshi.
He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) wanted to convey its message to the people of Sindh. “We will go to each district of the province,” said Qureshi.
Referring to Dasu incident and its impact on Pak-China relations, the Foreign Minister said that some forces did not want stability in Pak-China relationships that were not hidden from anyone. “Our friendship with China is seven-decade long,” he added. He said that forces who did not want development in Pakistan and against CPEC were carrying out such cowardly acts.
“Some powers cannot understand the nature of Pakistan’s friendship with China. Dasu incident is a cowardly act. The Chinese are helping us for the development of Pakistan. Our Pakistani brothers were also injured in the incident,” he maintained.
Speaking on talks with dissident Baloch nationalists, the Foreign Minister said that Balochistan is an important unit of Pakistan and its issues must be resolved. Responding to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, Qureshi said that the people of Kashmir announced their decision and gave mandate to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
When asked about the future of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Qureshi said that he did not have a portfolio of astrology.
