HAFIZABAD - The workers and owners of brick kilns staged a protest in front of Press Club against the levy of GST on the sale of bricks and called upon the government to withdraw the uncalled for imposition of GST. Led by President Zahid Iqbal and Afzal Hanjra, a large number of workers came on about 50 tractor-trolleys, chanted slogans against the anti-workers policies of the government. On the occasion, Malik Zahid said that cost of construction has already been gone high and due to levy of uncalled-for GST on the sale of bricks, construction cost would be further increased. Resultantly, the workers engaged with brick kilns and construction sectors would be badly affected, he added. The protesters demanded withdrawal of the GST.
