Man kills wife over suspicion of ‘illicit affairs’

FAISALABAD   -  A man killed his wife over suspicion of illicit relations in the limits of Lundianwla police station. According to police, accused Imdad Hussain of Chak No 644-GB, Lakarrwali was suspected that his wife Safia bibi had illicit relationship. On the day of the incident, both exchanged harsh words and Imdad attacked with an axe, killing her on the spot. The woman was the mother of a child. The accused managed to escape the scene. Police started investigation after shifting the body to a mortuary, THQ hospital.

Body found from sewerage channel

A body of a young man was found from a sewerage channel in the area of Ghulam Muhammad Abad police station. 

Police spokesman said here on Friday that some passersby spotted a corpse of a young man floating in a sewerage channel near chak Sitara, Bilal Road and informed the concerned police and Rescue-1122. Rescue-1122 divers fished out the body from the sewerage channel, while the police dispatched to mortuary for postmortem. Further investigation for his identification and search of his family was underway.

55 criminals held, drugs & weapons recovered

Police on Friday arrested 55 alleged criminals and recovered drugs and illegal weapons from them during the last 24 hours. 

According to police, raiding teams nabbed 13 proclaimed offenders (POs) and 14 drug-pushers and recovered 1.5-kg hashish and 143 litres of liquor from them. 

The police also held 14 gamblers with stake money of Rs35,710. In a crackdown on illegal weapons, police arrested 14 persons and recovered 13 pistols, one rifle and a number of bullets from them.
