There was a 'public referendum' by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on KLB the other day. According to press reports, some 1.2 million ballot papers were distributed in Lahore only. Let us see; if the cost of one ballot paper was Rs 1/-, then the amount comes to Rs 1.2 million in Lahore alone. And JI held it nationwide. Then, what was the result? As expected, the 'voters' rejected KLB with overwhelming majority (in high 90s), as expected by everyone. Therefore, the end result was minus zero. If JI had sent this amount to IDPs, its image might have received a boost. It is nil at the moment, though, just like the IQ of this religious party. -Z. ISRAR, Karachi, October 28.
