Vantage point of the Kurdish ‘Millennium Quest’

By the time when there is significant prevalence of favourable circumstances, the Iraqi Kurds in alliance with Sunni and Shia militias along with regional and global allies can attempt to lead the Kurdish nation

As the battle for Mosul (Iraq) and Aleppo (Syria) rages on, countries like US, Russia and Turkey are gradually being involved deeper into the abyss of Middle Eastern quagmire. As the election of the new American president approaches, the global village is experiencing an intense struggle between the Russian iron fist and American invisible hand. The role of international and regional institutions has increased in this situation. UN has brought forward resolutions condemning Russian ‘heavy bombing’ of Aleppo – an act which Russia denied. The EU members differed, substantially, regarding sanctions on Russia. Merkel and Holland met Putin in order to develop a mutual ground in Ukraine. Though, the German and French counterparts attempted to bring Putin into acceptance but Italian President refused to target Russia. With the rise of multi-polar world, countries are building up regional and global alliances. ASEAN countries are tilting toward Asian bloc led by China and Russia. India has influence in the SAARC. Central Asian and Middle Eastern countries are looking towards either Sino-Russian–led or American-led camp. The character of the ‘power-game’ is so strong and effective that Egypt’s Sisi has taken a stand against the partiality of Saudi aggression and NATO oppression. It was likely that Egypt would replace as NATO’s new ‘frontal’ firepower in the Middle East but President of Egypt, General Fateh Al-Sisi who was deemed loyal to Israel, has taken a stand in opposition to pro-Israeli NATO. This can prove to be a major setback as the northern fleet of Russian warships is present in Tartarus (Syria) and Egypt will not become a part of NATO campaign aimed at maligning Russia. Simultaneously, Russian-Egyptian war games are taking place in Al-Alamein, Egypt. Chinese President announced $32 billion for Egypt. Pakistani COAS, Raheel Sharif, met General Sisi in the aftermath of the rapprochement deal of Russia and Turkey. This article revolves around three countries within a region: Syria, Iraq and Egypt.

Pakistani Defense Minister announced assistance for Iraq. China, that surprisingly dislodged from initial and original plan to provide assistance to Iraq, has proceeded to Syria project. Russia is present in Syria. The matter has been a mysterious episode of diplomacy. Furthermore, Turkey launched an anti-terror offensive called Euphrates Shield whereby the Iraqi government launched Mosul offensive. Mosul is home to Kurdish and Sunni-Arab Iraqis. Turkey showed reservations regarding presence of Shia militiamen. This concern is not in opposition to Shiite stakeholders but related to the possibility of ISIS carrying out false flags which would’ve been blamed on Hezbollah by Egypt. However, Egypt showed restraint in the series of deadly bombings which occurred in Sinai over a period of time. Hence, the next phase of ‘gradual encirclement of Iran’ was halted due to Egyptian resistance against Saudi hostile designs. The purpose of secret Sino-Russian presence in Iraq is to facilitate Iranian annexation of Iraq if the Mosul offensive leads to break up of Iraq. The Mosul area will be under patronage of Iraq and Turkey, while Kurds will be provided ‘controlled-autonomy’ they have under Masood Barzani. This diplomatic endeavor is a joint effort in the attempt to neutralize the American invisible hand which instigated Saudi-Iranian proxy war with chances to spiral into Sunni-Shia religious war. The Sunni-Shia civil war has no purpose but the breakup and destruction of Pakistan. If Pakistan is thwarted and brought under Hindu India, then pro-Israeli NATO can focus on Russia and China.

Pakistani Prime Minister paid a visit to Azerbaijan. The Nagorno-Karabakh issue is between Azerbaijan (Turkish ally) and Armenia (Russian ally). Pakistan has played a central, pivotal and focal point of reference in rapprochement deal of Russia and Turkey. Pakistan has similarly improved relations with Belarus (Russian ally) along with other European and Central Asian states. At Goa summit of BRICS 2016 conference, the ‘terrorism blame-game’ was pulled down by Chinese response and Russian indifference. It is likely that the Indian Prime Minister wanted to send a message to Russia and China that it is India who is the main and only important player in South Asia. However, this attempt was played down. Modi resorted to claim that the Indian army is capable of exploits in the manner of Israeli Special Forces. Filipino President, Rodrigo Duterte, has called for support of Russian-Chinese alliance. Russia has activated Cuba, Guam and a couple of other military bases. China has also activated Cambodia and attempted to bring in other ASEAN countries with positive response. It seems that Asian countries have rejected the activation of military flashpoints instigated through American invisible hand. The CPEC corridor as part of OBOR initiative has brought in favourable and ground-changing responses from Afghanistan, Iran, Central Asian states, Saudia along with other countries. The duo of Sino-Russia provides economic plan and diplomatic campaign for the countries who seek peace, development and prosperity.

With the failure to lure Egypt into NATO’s pro-Israeli plan, the Western imperialism attempted to advance the Sunni-Shia civil war plan on its behest. The American support of Iraqi Mosul plan has long-term implications which can be disastrous enough to lead to breakup of Iraq. To counter this American invisible hand, the Russian iron fist has shown remarkable diplomacy in gathering support from countries which are located in the region – who do not want war or destruction. Recently, Saudi Arabia called for cooperation with Russia through non-OPEC forum. There is a link between the Mosul offensive and Aleppo campaign: both are against ISIS. However, the Iraqi Mosul offensive is assisted by Americans and the Syrian Aleppo campaign is partnered with Russians. Turkey has re-iterated through her ‘on-ground and air’ presence that it is major stakeholder in both cases.  The majority of people who reside in Aleppo (Syria) and Mosul (Iraq) are Kurdish. The Iraqi Kurds have assimilated into their regions through autonomy. Iraqi Kurds are part of the Mosul campaign which has spread to other Kurdish cities like Kirkuk and Irbil. In Syria, the Syrian Kurdish fighters have been targeted by Turkish Army despite the fact that both are fighting against ISIS.

Despite Turkish backing of Syrian rebels, Erdogan has shunned the possibility of attack on Syria by ceasing the role of NATO’s ‘front’ firepower. Differences over Syria have caused strains between NATO allies - Turkey and the United States. Washington is backing the Kurdish YPG militia, seeing it as an effective partner in the fight against Islamic State. Turkey fears the militia's advance will embolden Kurdish militants at home. At this moment in time, the Russian iron fist is being employed to counter American invisible hand in the situation where the inclusion of Shia militias in Syria and Iraq will lead them to be emboldened to attack ISIS near Syraq-Egypt corridor which would force Egypt to respond through GCC forum. These attempts of pro-Israeli NATO to further instigate divisions and rivalries on basis of nationalism and sectarianism have failed. Pakistani-led and Iranian sponsored ‘Sino-Russian’ presence in Iraq is to facilitate ‘Iranian annexation of Iraq’ while Turkey will be allowed to secure Mosul, Kirkuk and Irbil which are inhabited by Sunni Arab and Kurds. The present situation is where ISIS and Syrian Kurds are being targeted by Turkey where the mobilization of Iraqi Kurds against ISIS has become a matter of utmost diplomatic importance. To further reach a point of conclusive peace, we will have to provide a Kurdish role further legitimacy and authority in context of moral struggle. The Euro-Jewish State of Israel came into existence in a ‘sea of Islam’ but the Kurds were treacherously denied independence at hands of Western imperialists, despite being a nation of 35 million. To identify the impending situation, it is imperative to articulate the Kurdish role in the historical process to restore ‘Days of Allah – time and again, throughout the annals of history. There is a reason why Kurds are being treated in a specific way by countries around them.

Turkey says its military is in Iraq at the invitation of Masood Barzani, President of the Kurdish regional government, with which Ankara maintains solid ties. Most of the troops are at a base in Bashiqa, north of Mosul, where they are helping to train Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga and Sunni fighters. In this situation, ISIS will attempt to create a situation of direct confrontation or sustain wedge between stakeholders. Turkey intends to establish the fact to Kurds and the rest of the world that that the ‘militaristic status quo’ of global establishment does not want to resolve conflict despite the means and mutual benefits. Pro-Israeli NATO intends to establish Israeli global military dictatorship and is bent upon destroying Muslim countries along with Russia and China. It is a matter similar to the case of Imam Hosein’s moral struggle against the ‘militaristic status quo’ of Yazeedi establishment (which was built upon Kharijite lies). Kurds have a central place in the history of Islam. There were Kurds in the first millennium whose moral struggle is to match Kurdish quest in the second millennium.

The Telegraph published an article, 'Christian Crusade v Muslim Jihad: How medieval reactions prompted modern attitudes', which states:

'The religious concept of jihad that had rallied the faithful in earlier centuries to defend and extend the frontiers of Islam lay buried and forgotten. It was a perfect moment for Western Europe to strike.'

The part of Islamic jihad wasn't limited to an 'armed struggle'. It was a process of moral struggle. The Fatimids of Egypt, Seljuks of Persia and Turkish polity were divided. What Kurdish Sultan, Salahuddin Ayyubi, did was to unite and prosper the Muslim lands. He restored peace and stability through long-term plans. The result of Ayyubid diplomacy was that the Mamluk establishment led by Ruknuddin Baybars Al-Bunduqdar in Cairo, who was the slave warrior to Kurdish as-Salih Ayyub, managed to defeat the Mongol invasion and crusader onslaught - decisively and simultaneously - despite the defeat of Syrian Ayyubids under Gog-Magog world order around the middle of 13th century. What Salahuddin Ayyubi did was to revolutionise the administration and polity (which was in tatters) of Syria and Egypt along with the regions of Northern Iraq, Hejaz and Yemen before Baybars rose to power. Egypt dominion was under Turan Shah - Salahuddin's brother. He benchmarked the conduct and behaviour of the ruler towards his duty and the establishment of public order. The integration of Kurdish nation with various Muslim states led to emergence of 'Islamic Republic' despite the existence of Mamluk establishment (in Egypt, and also the famous rule of Ghiyasuddin Balban in India). Is this historical process of crusader onslaught, Mongol invasion and Islamic revival bereft of brilliant historical events designed to shape the world?

The slave (Mamluk) dynasty of India also had the Mamluk establishment that had contacts with Middle East. Particularly, Kurdish forces were available in plenty and 'slave-warriors' were exchanged across Islamic sultanates as gesture of goodwill. These slave warriors weren't slaves but the military and political elite. Salahuddin Ayyubi improvised their 'state of affairs,' in order for them to be politically sound i.e. not to indulge in Machiavellianism or petty disputes. He had already introduced Kurdish way of life. Kurdish quest was to destroy Yazeedi militarism and allow the concept of welfare republic to emerge under 'Islamic rule' and 'principles of humanity' - which was long forgotten and abandoned in Muslim lands.

In days of Ar-Rashidun caliphate, the time of crusader onslaught and Mongol Invasion and contemporary era of Akhiruzzamaan; the Kurds fulfilled strategically important destined role. It is to establish a ‘social order’ system to rise as an identity and resist the oppressor who uses ‘power to oppress’. The Iraqi Kurds are a strong force whose diplomacy is deemed in accordance with that of sovereign state. In no time, they will understand that pro-Israeli NATO does not want a solution, rather further destabilization – where the American led offensive against ISIS will not change the Kurdish or Middle Eastern circumstances. The Kurds from Syria, Iraq, Iran and Turkey will have to unite against the oppressor i.e. ‘militaristic status quo’ of global establishment. This case will be similar to Erdogan’s reversal in policy by abandoning the pro-Israeli NATO alliance in favour of Christian Russia – who stood against Godless forces of ‘territorial expansionism’ and ‘atheistic materialism’ which seeks to impose the global military dictatorship of Israel. These are war-mongering elements who want to suppress ‘popular sovereignty’ by sabotaging Kurdish moral and democratic struggle taking place against 'Yazeedi Militarism.'

By the time when there is significant prevalence of favourable circumstances, the Iraqi Kurds in alliance with Sunni and Shia militias along with regional and global allies can attempt to lead the Kurdish nation. Holy Prophet stated a tradition where the drying of 'Euphrates River’ will uncover the Mountain of Gold. The Kurds also inhabit the area between River Tigris and River Euphrates. The Kharijites attempted to kill Caliph Ali in Iraq, Governor Moawiyah in Syria and Governor Amr Bin Al-Aas in Egypt.  In contemporary era, the spill-out of Kharijites in areas adjoining these three countries can prove dangerous. By winning over the Kurds as allies in the war against ISIS and Kharijites, the Sino-Russian led EurAsian camp can manage to defeat the menace of terrorism and instability. Pakistan has a role to play in enhancing the EurAsian status in Middle East and elsewhere. The ground situation has changed in between the events of Russian intervention in Syria (September 30, 2015) and breakdown of Syrian ceasefire plan exactly one year later (September 30, 2016).

Moral law is the highest law and Imam Hosein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, sacrificed everything for this 'principle' - which transcends everything - when he faced oppression from the 'militaristic status quo' endorsed by Yazeedi establishment.

To stand for moral law necessitates the all-encompassing endeavour in order to muster enough fortitude, strength and integrity to call spade a spade. Imam Hosein sacrificed everything he had at Karbala. An in-depth analysis of Islamic eschatology reveals that the moral struggle of Imam Hosein will reach culmination through defeat of 'Israeli-led Global Military Dictatorship' and 'Yazeedi Militarism of Anti-Christ the False Messiah' at hands of Imam Al-Mahdi and Prophet Jesus.

Will Pakistan realise the aim on the basis of which - moral and democratic struggle - it was obtained? Is the 'largest democracy' i.e. India ready to join Sino-Russian led EurAsian alliance which upholds the slogan: 'moral law is the highest law' or is it willing to be on the wrong side of history by following 'oppressive militarism' of global military dictatorship i.e. Israel?
