Civil society protests for removal of doctor

MIRPURKHAS - The civil society held a demonstration here on Saturday to protest against the resignation of Dr Madhobala, a skin specialist, and alleged illegal activities of Assistant Medical Superintendent (AMS) of Gynecology Ward of Civil Hospital Dr Perveen Tarique.

Carrying banners and placards and led by Wajid Leghari, Muhammad Bux Kapri and Qalandar Bux Advocate, the protestors gathered outside the office of civil surgeon of the Civil Hospital and raised slogans. They demanded the higher authorities not to accept the resignation of Dr Madhobala and suspend Dr Perveen Tarique.

Talking to media persons, the protesters accused the hospital administration of committing excesses, which, they argued, had led to Dr Madhobala’s resignation.

They further alleged that Dr Perveen Tarique forced patients to come to her private clinic for treatment as well as for delivery of their babies. They also accused her of showing negligence, which they said was responsible for the deaths of few children at her clinic.

They demanded Sindh chief minister, secretary health and director general health services Hyderabad to take immediate notice of the matter and suspend her without any delay so that poor patients could take a sigh of relief.

Later, the protestors ended their demonstration when Civil Surgeon Dr Hemraj Rathi held negotiations with them and it was agreed that Perveen Tarique would be replaced while doctors of the hospital would go to the house of Dr Madhobala to convince her to withdraw her resignation and join her duty.
