Lahore - Abdullah Adnan and Mahatir Muhammad qualified for the U-18 finals in the Ali embroidery Junior National Tennis Championship 2021 after winning their respective semifinals played here at the Punjab Tennis Academy Bagh-e-Jinnah on Thursday.
In the boys U-18 first semifinal, Mahatir Muhammad was up against spirited Farman Shakeel and though he faced tough resistance from Farman, yet he manages to win the crucial semifinal with a score of 7-5, 6-4. The second semifinal saw Abdullah Adnan, who made a strong comeback in the national tennis circuit after suffering from long injury as he won boys U-18 singles title in the last event, took little time to overpower Faizan Fayyaz with a margin of 6-3, 6-2. In the boys U-16 semifinals, Nadir Ali Raza got walkover against Bilal Asim while Shaeel Durab beat Asad Zaman 6-3, 6-0. In the U-14 semifinals, Asad Zaman beat Muzamil Bhand 7-6(3), 2-6, 6-2 and Ahtesham Humayun beat Shehryar Anees 6-2, 6-4. In the U-12 quarterfinals, Abubakar Talha (Wapda) beat Omer Jawad 7-5, 6-3, Abdul Basit beat Nabeel Ali Qayyum 6-4, 7-6, Zohaib Afzal Malik beat Sameer Zaman 6-1, 6-2 and Amir Mazari beat Abdur Rehman 6-1, 6-0. In the U-10 quarterfinals, Abdur Rehman beat Arman Nawaz 4-0, 4-0, Rashid Ali beat Majid Ali 4-0, 4-1 and Fajjar Fayyaz beat Ehsan Bari 4-0, 4-0.
In the girls U-18 semifinals, Amna Ali Qayyum beat Ashtafila Arif 6-2, 6-0 and Zahra Suleman beat Zainab Ali 6-2, 6-2.
In the boys U-18 doubles semifinals, Farman/Nailan beat Shaeel/Ali Talha 3-6, 7-6, 10-7 and Abdullah Adnan/Mahatir Muhammad beat Faizan/Hassan 6-2, 6-2. In the U-14 doubles quarterfinals, Amir Mazari/Nadir Ali Raza beat Sohan Noor Abubakar 4-0, 4-1 and Asad/Humayum beat Muneer/Muzamil 4-2, 4-2.
