Pakistan, Iran have identical views on regional issues: FM

ISLAMABAD   -   Pakistan and Iran have identical views on the regional issues, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said after completing his Tehran trip yesterday.

FM Qureshi returned home after completing a two-day visit to Iran at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Dr Hussein Amir Abdullahian.

During his two-day visit, the Foreign Minister said he attended the Second Meeting of Afghanistan’s Neighboring Countries in Tehran and drew the attention of the participants to the deteriorating economic situation in Afghanistan.

The foreign minister said, he met with the Foreign Ministers of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

During these meetings, bilateral relations, the promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields and the development of a joint strategy at the regional level on the situation in Afghanistan were discussed, said an official statement.

The Foreign Minister also met with his Iranian counterpart Dr Hussein Amir Abdullahian and Iranian President Dr Ibrahim Raeisi. The Foreign Minister also visited Pakistani Embassy and Pakistan House in Tehran and meets with officials stationed at the Embassy The Foreign Minister also visited the school run by the Pakistani Embassy.
