CJP takes notice of private universities across Punjab

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took suo moto notice of private universities across Punjab province.

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, heard a case regarding degree not being given to a student of University of South Asia’s affiliated college.

The bench also directed the Punjab advocate general to submit a report regarding details of universities and affiliated colleagues in the province. The apex court judge questioned, how long have the universities been operational and what is their fee structure?

The chief justice remarked that criminal cases should be registered against the universities across Punjab who had opened campuses illegally.

The Higher Education Commission had said that the university, affiliated the college with the HEC permission. Only degree paper is not but presence of teachers is important.

The chief justice remarked let see who gives its surety, adding they deceive people and destroyed education.
