LAHORE - Samsung Electronics is going to launch its all new plasma flat panel series in Pakistan by June 2010 and local Assembly of plasmas will be started soon, said Khurram Farooq, Marketing Manager (TV, LED, Audio/Visual Devices) here while talking to The Nation exclusively. He expressed that Samsung is market leader in LEDs and LCDs with 75 percent and 60 percent plus shares respectively. Talking about the product positioning, Mr. Farooq said that flat panel TVs are still considered as luxury item in Pakistan as most of the people here still prefer to buy picture tube TVs due to their price sensitive nature. Talking about the market segmentation, Mr Farooq said, Samsung Plasma TVs would be 20-25 percent cheaper than Samsung LEDs and LCDs. Negating different stereotypes, he said that Samsung plasmas consumes less power and its picture quality is far more better than that of any other brand of Plasma TV. Talking about the consumer trends, he said that flat panel TVs are just at initial growth. Thus the market potential is huge. These days flat panel TVs are considered luxury item soon it would be a basic commodity. Talking about the future goals, Mr Khurrum Farooq revealed that Samsung Electronics is also planning to introduce latest 3D technology flat panel LEDs, LCDs and Plasmas in November.
