Ramzan is one month of the year in which every Muslim tries to do the maximum number of good deeds because this is the time when they are blessed in abundance by the Almighty. They make attempts to fix their relationship with Allah and His beings by being kind to them, providing assistance to the needy, and helping them in their time of difficulty through various forms of charity like sharing meals or simply praying for their well-being.
While we do all of that for the people around us, we often forget those who need our help and deserve our kindness more than anyone else. These are people fighting for their lives in hospitals and treatment facilities. They are unable to celebrate Eid because the festival is just another month for them in which they have to put up a brave fight in the face of their illnesses, often all by themselves.
Every year, Surf Excel introduces a brilliant message of giving back to society. The brand urges us to spread the message forward so the most people can benefit from it. This year, Surf came up with #KhushiyonKaSadqa. The idea is to educate kids and adults about how sadqa shouldn’t be limited to financial assistance, or charity, as we usually call it. You could spend time with someone, do what they enjoy or make them smile. This way you are giving them the gift of happiness, which is in essence a form of sadqa.
Surf Excel rolled out the initiative with a touching DVC that will definitely tug at your heartstrings and bring tears to your eyes. In the ad, a brother-sister duo learn about zakat and its significance. They realise they don’t have money, but they do have smiles and joy that they can share with the kids at a hospital. According to their innocent minds, happiness is precious and holds great value, especially for those who are deprived of it. That is how they give their #KhushiyonKaSadqa.
With the spirit to spread happiness and lead by example, the Surf Excel team visited Indus Hospital during the entire month of Ramzan where they spent quality time with the kids who are battling cancer. The idea was to brighten the days of those precious souls, many of which don’t even understand the severity of their condition.
The month was full of engaging activities in which the kids participated with a lot of excitement. Some of these activities included drum circle rounds, arts and crafts, magic shows, storytelling sessions, and t-shirt painting, with the last week being all about the Eid Bazaar. It was an open market where the kids could pick out items of their liking. Seeing their faces light up at the prospect of getting new clothes and toys was a feeling that can’t be described in words.
Renowned KOLs and notable influencers have joined hands with Surf Excel, where each week they spend time with the kids at the hospital. Mansha Pasha, Sarwat Gillani, Husband-wife duo Hira and Mani, football champion Hajra Khan, Zara Noor Abbas and badminton player Mahoor Shahzad, as well as cricketing star Sarfaraz Ahmed all, made their presence felt during the visits.
If you too want to give your #KhushiyonKaSadqa to the kids at Indus Hospital, you can visit them during the day and gift them a few hours of your time. This is sure to make you count your blessings and experience gratitude like never before.
