Melody Queen paid tribute on death anniversary




ISLAMABAD – A musical evening titled “Gaey Gi Dunya Geet Mery” was held Friday to pay tribute to Melody Queen Noor Jahan on her 12th death anniversary under the management of Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA).
Renowned singers Saira Naseem and Gulshan Jahan presented famous songs and ghazals of Madam Noor Jahan including ‘Raat phaili hay tery surmai aanchal ki tarah’, ‘Chandani ratain’, and ‘Gaey gi dunya geet mery’.
Saima Khushnood and dance group of PNCA performed on the songs of the legendary singer to pay homage to her. Poet Hasan Abbas Raza recited a poem on Noor Jahan that he had especially written for her.   A documentary was also screened on the life and achievements of the late singer.
Director General PNCA Tauqir Nasir speaking on the event said she ruled the world of music for a long time and her life and works has got the status of an academy for the new comers and contemporary singers and to make familiar the new generation with her work is our responsibility’. 
Broadcaster Agha Nasir said she reached to the levels of maturity and perfection in both the fields of singing and acting. ‘ She almost sang the works of all the renowned poets beautifully that won her great acclaim’.
