LAHORE -  Former premier Nawaz Sharif yesterday said ex-military dictator Pervez Musharraf will soon be brought to the court of law for the offence of breach of the Constitution.

Talking to the party workers at Jati Umra mosque after offering Juma prayers, Nawaz Sharif termed Pervez Musharraf a coward who is staying out of the country on the pretext of illness. “If he is so brave, he should come back to Pakistan and face the law,” Nawaz Sharif challenged him while referring to the pending high treason case before a three-member bench of the high court.

The former prime minister who himself has grievances against the judiciary and has announced to launch Adal Tehreek for the enforcement of what he says equitable system of justice said the Judiciary also needs to be awakened on the Musharraf case which the PML-N government had instituted in December 2013 after coming to power as a result of May 2013 elections over November 3, 2007, PCO, and state of emergency which the dictator had imposed in the country. He said those who abrogated the Constitution must also be brought to justice.

Nawaz Sharif asked the workers to get united to prepare for the next elections.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif is leaving for Saudi Arabia on Saturday (today) while his brother Shehbaz Sharif has already been there since Wednesday.

Nawaz Sharif will fly to the Kingdom by Saudi Airline. Before leaving for Saudi Arabia, Shehbaz Sharif had met the Saudi ambassador three days ago in addition to meeting foreign diplomats.

Foreign Affairs Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Minister for Commerce Muhammad Pervez Malik and Senator Asif Ali Kirmani are already in Saudi Arabia.

In the prevailing political situation, departure of the top leaders of the PML-N has become very significant. The objective of the visit of the PML-N leaders to the brotherly Islamic country has not been disclosed at any level, but it is being viewed as not being meaningless at political and observers level. They dominantly view that the visit is aimed at finding out a way to remove the difficulty the Sharifs are facing at present after the disqualification verdict by the Supreme Court against Nawaz Sharif, criminal references under trial by the NAB court and others under investigation at the NAB level which the Sharifs are accused of.

Political observers view that the visit is aimed at securing an NRO-like solution to come out of this hard phase with the help of the Saudi friends.

The former prime minister, on the question of his disqualification, is scathingly criticising the judiciary and other institutions and is determined to launch an Adal Tehreek, believing the justice system in the country is unfair and needs to be made equitable. This development is being viewed in the perspective of the war on terror, the US pressure and the tense situation the country is facing on the eastern and western borders that do not warrant any chaos or unrest in the country.

The PML-N has named Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif as its candidate for the prime minster office after the elections 2018. Shehbaz Sharif’s outlook towards the institutions, as the observers view, is peaceful coexistence and conciliatory unlike his elder brother, so he may be brought to the fore to play a key role in a NRO sort of deal to bail the Sharifs out of the current predicament. As to the final result of the said developments, they are largely based on presumptions which, they believe, would be known in next one or two weeks.

The Opposition at home strongly believes an NRO is in the making in favour of the Sharifs on the legal matters and has warned of reacting sternly if that happened. As such the coming days are being considered politically important and hectic.
