DC Bahawalpur orders intensive crackdown against hoarders

BAHAWALPUR - Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia ordered price control magistrates on Wednesday to launch intensive crackdown against hoarding.

He was reviewing per­formance of price control magistrates in the commit­tee room of the office. Addi­tional Deputy Commission­er Revenue Shahid Imran Marth, System Network Administrator Muhammad Azeem Zeeshan, Assistant Commissioners from across the district and price con­trol magistrates were pres­ent on the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner said that the price control mag­istrates should regularly visit the shops and mar­kets to check the prices and quality of food items. 

He said that legal action should be taken in case of violation. System Network Administrator Muhammad Azeem Zeeshan while brief­ing about the performance of price controlling in the district said that between December 1, 2021 to De­cember 29, the price control magistrates visited 9,568 shops, markets and carts in the district and checked the prices of essential com­modities. A total fine of Rs. 10,85,502 was imposed on the spot for violating price lists. FIRs were registered against 99 persons in the concerned police stations. 17 shops were sealed and 339 people were arrested.

DC REVIEWS STEPS TAKEN FOR EHSAS RATION CONCESSION PROGRAMME IN B 

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia chaired a meeting in committee room of the office in which steps taken in connection with “Ehsas Ration Concession Pro­gramme” were reviewed. 

The deputy commis­sioner said that ‘Ehsas Ra­tion Discount Programme’ is an important programme, therefore registration of grocery stores under this programme should be com­pleted as soon as possible. In this regard, assistant com­missioners across the dis­trict should work actively. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Com­missioner Revenue Shahid Imran Marth, Assistant Com­missioners from across the district, Deputy Director So­cial Welfare, Deputy Director Local Government, officers of National Bank of Pakistan and officers of other depart­ments concerned. 

The deputy commissioner said that social welfare, local government along with the assistant commissioner of tehsil concerned should play their role in Ehsas Ration Discount Programme so that the low income people could get relief. In the meeting, the representative of National Bank of Pakistan gave a briefing on facility provided by the owner of the grocery store for opening a bank ac­count. On the occasion, Dep­uty Director Social Welfare M Uzair said in a briefing that under the Ehsas Ration Dis­count Programme, a person from a poor family would be given a monthly subsidy.
