KHANEWAL - District Police Officer Khanewal Syed Nadeem Abbas on Wednesday claimed that district police registered 12,000 cases during the year 2021 and recovered looted items worth Rs 77 million from criminal elements.
District Police Officer Nadeem Abbas released the annual report of the district police for the year 2021, according to which during the year 2021 the district police registered a total of 12,000 cases. Similarly, 81 criminal gangs were busted and 261 people involved in burglaries were held. Police recovered valuables worth Rs 77 million from the arrested accused.
The district police arrested 1,583 criminals. The district police registered 910 cases against those possessing illegal weapons. The police recovered 13 Kalashnikovs, 40 rifles, 710 pistols / muzzers, 103 guns/ repeaters, 12 bores, 34 revolvers, 10 carbines and 3,260 bullets from possession of these accused. The district police registered 1,145 cases in anti-drug operations while 1,069 kg of hashish, 27 kg of heroin, 17 kg of opium and 13,930 litres of liquor were recovered from the possession of the accused and 262 gamblers were arrested under the Gambling Act.
The amount of Rs. 456,700 was also recovered. 82 cases were registered against 167 accused for violation of the Sound System Act. Dozens of accused in robbery and murder cases have been arrested and brought to justice. Similarly, accused of desecration of women and sexual abuse of children have been arrested on priority basis.

According to District Police Officer Syed Nadeem Abbas, Every effort is being made to maintain the capacity building of 1,600 personnel stationed in 18 police stations and seven outposts across the district with continuous fire practice, mock exercise as well as keeping the police vehicles up to date and providing necessary resources. He said that the district police was working day and night to ensure exemplary conduct against criminals. Anti-social and criminal elements will be booked in any case.
