Peshawar police begins monitoring of inmates

Peshawar-Peshawar police have launched search and strike operations to control crime rate and also started monitoring the inmates getting released from jails, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Talking to The Nation, SSP Operations Haroor-ur-Rasheed said that during Wednesday’s operations, police arrested three proclaimed offenders, three accused in aerial firing cases and 112 other suspects in nine operations.
During the day’s operations, 22 pistols, one Kalashnikov, two shotguns and hundreds of bullets were also recovered.  
It merits a mention here that after the posting of Haroon-ur-Rasheed as SSP Operations, the Peshawar police have adopted proactive policing and preventive policy strategies to control the crime rate.
“Snap checking has been increased and raids are also being conducted on tip-offs. While those getting release from jails are also monitored to find out if they again get involved in crimes,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, a police inspector, who had been shot and injured by unidentified gunmen on December 20, died on Wednesday. Inspector Ahmed Gul had been admitted to Lady Reading Hospital soon after he was attacked in Faqeerabad locality. His funeral prayer was offered at the Police Lines in Peshawar Wednesday evening.
