Ahmad faces Imran in SBP Open Tennis final

LAHORE   -  Ahmad Kamil and Imran Bhatti booked berths in the final of the Sports Board Punjab Open Tennis Championship 2021 after winning their respective semifinals played here at Punjab Tennis Academy Bagh-e-Jinnah on Friday. 

The finals of different categories will be played at 3:00 pm while Sports Board Punjab Vice Chairman Rao Zahid Qayyum will be chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. In the men’s singles semifinals, Ahmad Kamil played well against Hassan Riaz and overpowered him by 6-1, 6-4 while the second semifinal saw Imran Bhatti outclassing Mahatir Muhammad with a score of 6-1, 6-1. In the seniors 35 plus doubles, Fayyaz Khan/Arif Feroze beat Kamran Qureshi/Shadab Ahmad 6-2, 6-2 and Talha Waheed (Gas and Oil Pakistan Ltd)/Ashar Ali Khan defeated Tariq Sadiq/Kashif Rehmat 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 to qualify for the final. 

In the U-18 semifinals, Faizan Fayyaz was up against Mahatir Muhammad and after a tough fight, Faizan emerged as winner by 6-2, 7-6. In the second semifinal, Hasheesh Kumar outlasted Abdul Hanan Khan 6-4, 6-3 to set final clash against Faizan. The U-18 doubles semifinals saw Mahatir Muhammad/Ahtesham Arif beating Shaeel Durab/Nalain Abbas 4-2, 5-3 and Hasheesh Kumar/Asad Zaman thrashing Moavia Butt/Husnain 4-0, 4-0 to make way to the final. 

In the girls U-18 semifinals, spirited Natalia Zaman outpaced Ashtafila Arif 8-2 while sensational Haniya Minhas outclassed Tooba Khan 8-0 to book berths in the final. In the ladies singles semifinals, high-flying Haniya Minhas crushed Natalia Zaman 6-0, 6-0 while Ashtafila Arif outscored Maria 6-1, 6-1. In the U-10 semifinals, Abdur Rehman beat Mustafa Uzair Rana 6-0 while Fajar Fayyaz beat Hajra 7-5.
