Wapda women dominate National Master Cup Table Tennis Championships

Overall, Wapda and Army players maintained their lead in the competitions

PESHAWAR   -  Aysha Sharjeel, Raheela Kashif, Pernia Khan and Mehmooda Haider of Pakistan Wapda booked berths in the women singles quarterfinals after registering victories against their respective rivals in the league round of the Youth Empowerment All Pakistan National Masters Cup Tennis Championships here at Olympian Lala Rafique Sports Arena on Friday. 

In the group-A, Sanam (Wapda), Nousheen Waseem (Army) and Saman Fawad (Army) took second, third and fourth place. Aysha (Punjab), Hoor Fawad (Army) and Kainat Malik (KP) earned second, third and fourth place in the group-B. Shabnam Bilal (Wapda), Wajiha (Islamabad) and Iqra Rehman (KP) took second, third and fourth place in group-B while Sana Muzaffar (Army), Saba Mushtaq (Army) and Haleema (KP) finished second, third and fourth in the group-C respectively. 

Overall, Wapda and Army players maintained their lead in the competitions wherein top ranking 16 female and 32 male players are taking part. Former world champion Jansher Khan was the chief guest on this occasion, who witnessed the ongoing matches between male and female players in different categories. 

In the first and second round of the male categories, Wapda’s Shah Khan, Faheem Raza, Muhammad Usman, KP’s Manzoor Khan, Wapda’s Manzoor Qureshi, Army’s Obaid Shah, Railways’ Nazim Ashraf, Islamabad’s Abdullah Naseem, Army’s Faizan Zahoor, Wapda’s Sharjeel Khattab and Abdul Salaam, Army’s Owais Jamshed, Wapda’s Abdul Rahim recorded victories against their respective rivals. 

In other matches, Shujah Ali, Asim Munir, Muhammad Danish of Islamabad, Basit Ali of Wapda Shahzeb Raza, KP’s Shayan Farooq, Islamabad’s Abdullah Nasir, KP’s Haseeb Khan, Wapda’s Bilal Yaseen, KP’s Jaber, Punjab’s Abid Iqbal, Wapda’s Fahad Khawaja, KP’s Ummam Khawaja and Abbas Ahmed, Punjab’s M Yousuf, Wapda’s Hafeez and Sindh’s Usman Amjad and Saad Riaz score wins against their respective rivals.
