Establishment of mango museum in Multan to help develop mango industry in region: Professor Dr Asif Ali

MULTAN   -  A core group meeting on developing mango museum at DHA Multan was organised at MNS university of Agriculture Multan. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr Asif Ali (TI) VC Agriculture University Multan and the members representing mango growers, industry stakeholders, research institutes also participated in the meeting. 

Professor Dr Asif Ali said that mango has a specific geographical importance for Multan in specific and overall for the country in general. Therefore, the establishment of mango museum in Multan is vital to protect mango history as well as to develop mango industry in the region. 

The mango museum will not only provide information on mango heritage but also motivate the young individuals to get insight for developing their businesses. This museum will be therefore a multifaceted facility in which more than 400 hundred varieties produced in Pakistan will be preserved with description and also provide information regarding modern technology used in mango production, latest marketing methods, information regarding emerging markets, mango documentaries and lot of fun for kids and family will be organised. 

The participants of the core group duly acknowledged the effort of developing mango museum in Multan and assure all possible kind of support for the development of this facility. 

Later on Professor Dr Asif Ali along with grower inaugurated the first dry mango plant and its product “Uni value” in the department of food sciences and technology in the university. Professor Dr Irfan Baig, Prof Dr Shaqat Saeed, Major Tariq Khan, Zahid Hussain Gardezi, Muzzafar Khan Khakwani, HaiderKazmi, Jahanzaib Dharrala, Rana Asif Tippu, Dr Mubashir Mehdi, Rana Tanveer Ahmad was also present along with online participants Mr.  Waheed Ahmad, MS Rabia Sultan and Mahmood Shah in the core group meeting.
