MIRPUR (AJK) - The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Election Commission categorically refuted the allegations regarding rigging in June 26 AJK Legislative Assembly elections framed by certain losing candidates and the political parties. A spokesman for the AJK Elections Commission said in Muzaffarabad that the primary condition of producing the computerized national identity card by the voters for exercising their right to franchise was got implemented strictly in all constituencies during the polling. No incident of casting of fake vote or any unlawful use of influence upon the polling staff during polling was reported from any constituency, the spokesman said. He said that the AJK EC issued instant orders for suspension or postponement of polling only in that polling station and the constituency from where the concerned returning officer reported and recommended for the same. The spokesman said that solid steps were taken to discourage all sorts of rigging and any other irregularity in the elections. To achieve this task, the Chief Election Commissioner assigned all of his (CEC) own powers to the District Returning Officers and Returning Officers on the polling day in all electoral constituencies to ensure holding of free, fair and transparent elections, he added.
