ISLAMABAD - The leadership of Pakistan People Party (PPP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday rejected allegations levelled by Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) regarding rigging in AJK elections. Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, President PPP-AJK, along with other leaders said this while addressing a press conference at the National Press Club. Ch Majeed said that Kashmiri people have shown their confidence in PPP-AJK leadership through ballot. AJK Election Commission operated independently to conduct the transparent and fair elections. Therefore, the allegations being levelled by PML-N and others were not justified, he added. PPP-AJK believes in the politics of reconciliation. PPP-AJK will welcome political parties to become part of collation government in AJK. Despite having simple majority we believe in politics of consensus not the confrontation, Majeed added. Speaking on alleged rigging and highhandedness in Lahore, he said PML-N went to clash, tortured the returning officers to achieve the result of their own desire. The worker of PPP-AJK was not allowed to use their right of vote. Under such circumstances election commission postponed the election to avoid any untoward incident. Maintaining the law and order was the responsibility of Punjab government, which it did not fulfil, he alleged.
