ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed its annoyance over the federal government for not appointing a head of the commission constituted to investigate the missing persons cases. The court observed that FC officials were involved in disappearances of some persons but the government had not taken any concrete action against them. A three-member bench headed by Justice Javed Iqbal and comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain was hearing the case. Justice Javed in his remarks said heirs of the missing persons were approaching the superior courts due to negligence of the government. He said on the last date of hearing the court had directed the government to appoint the head of the commission which it did not. During the course of proceedings, Additional Attorney General KK Agha informed the bench that according to spy agencies report, two missing persons - Faisal Faraz and Masood Janjua - had been killed by the al-Qaeda as they gave two laptops to the al-Qaeda members but installed a chip in them. When the al-Qaeda found out the chip, they killed Masood Janjua and Faisal Faraz. In support of his argument, he also cited a local journalists Urdu column, which stated that Masood Janjua had been murdered. However, Amna Masood Janjua, wife of Masood Janjua and Defence of Human Rights Pakistan Chairperson rejected the spy agencies report. She stated her husband was alive and residing in one of the 'Safe Houses in Rawalpindi. The court asked her if she was sure of her husbands presence in Rawalpindi then the court might send a bailiff for his recovery. Earlier, Supreme Court Bar Association President Asma Jahangir told the court that the commissions report had not been made public, though it was right of the people to have an access to it. Meanwhile, the court also directed the capital police to submit the progress report after some weeks regarding recovery of a woman, Fatima, who was allegedly kidnapped by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer. The case was adjourned for two weeks.
