Hamesh remand extended till June 9

LAHORE - The accountability court Saturday again handed over the main accused of the Punjab Bank fraud case Hamesh Khan to NAB by extending his physical remand for eleven days. Hamesh Khan was brought to the accountability court in an armoured vehicle with handcuffs amid tight security arrangements. Two officials of the American Consulate in Pakistan were also present in the accountability court to hear the proceedings on the Hamesh case and to see whether Hamesh was being given a fair treatment by NAB or the accountability courts. After a brief hearing Hamesh was handed over to NAB and now he would be presented in the said accountability court on June 9. Hamesh Khan counsel said that he would not oppose extension in remand period, but wants that a fair opportunity should be provided for his client in the investigation. The court asked Hamesh Khan if he was tortured or mistreated in the NAB custody to which he replied in negative. He stated that NAB has neither forced him to give any statement against anyone nor mistreating him. Later Hamesh Khan was shifted from the accountability court to Chamba House where he has been kept declaring it sub jail for him.
